Are you interested in joining us as a partner?

CAG Consultants Limited was founded in 1983 and has a proud and distinguished track record of delivery for a very wide range of clients across the public, private and third sectors. In 2012, the company changed its structure to become a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). This has given us greater flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and provide a wider range of services to clients. We currently work in the fields of sustainable development, climate change, green economy, energy, evaluation and community/stakeholder involvement, but we are open-minded about the experience that new partners will bring.

We are now seeking additional partners to join our eight existing partners.

The co-operative is looking to expand and is seeking two new partners with high levels of professional and business skills and experience. Partners will need to be senior professionals who have experience of winning consultancy work and who are comfortable developing and managing a portfolio of work within the partnership.

Planning specialist

We are seeking a new CAG partner who can broaden and expand our existing planning offer, which is largely public-sector focused and includes SEA/SA, consultation and evidence base studies for new policy. We would be particularly interested to hear from those with experience in advising private sector clients, particularly with regard to energy, waste and transport projects. RTPI membership is essential.

Stakeholder and community engagement specialist

We are also seeking a new CAG partner to develop and expand our engagement offer, which is also largely public-sector focused. We are looking particularly for those with skills and experience in:

  • Designing and delivering pre-application community consultation programmes for housing and/or energy developers
  • Designing and delivering other community and stakeholder consultation programmes for public sector and private sector clients
  • Integrating social media and other digital resources into engagement programmes
If you are interested in either of these opportunities, you can contact Gerard Couper or Tim Maiden (contact details below) for an initial discussion or download our application pack.

The benefits of working for CAG include:

  • The freedom and flexibility of self-employment, coupled with the benefits of being part of a supportive team.
  • CAG Consult LLP is a registered co-operative – everyone is involved in management and decision making in the partnership.
  • CAG provides an opportunity to be part of a partnership with a respected and well-established track record.
  • CAG is an ethical company – giving an opportunity to work for a partnership which puts sustainability and equality of opportunity at the core of its work.
  • CAG is always seeking new market areas – partners are actively encouraged to develop new market areas around their own interests or specialisms.
  • CAG gives people freedom over working hours – allowing work to be structured around other commitments. We employ an administrator which reduces the administrative burden on each consultant.
  • CAG partners are home-based – no need to move house and no more stressful commuter journeys (though much of our work is desk-based, we still of course need to travel to visit clients and to meet quarterly as a team).
  • CAG has a UK presence – our partners are based from Glasgow to Devon.
  • CAG provides the opportunity to generate a substantial income – we aim to share opportunities for chargeable work equitably across the partnership, and only 12.5% of earnings are retained to cover core costs.
  • CAG partners retain up to 87.5% of the fee income they earn. (In a typical consultancy, a consultant's salary will be around 40-50% of the fee income they are expected to generate.)
  • CAG is on a number of framework agreements with clients such as the Scottish Government and the Environment Agency, through which we secure a considerable portion of our work.
  • CAG provides access to tender tracking services - we have good systems for identifying upcoming opportunities, and for sharing these opportunities with appropriate consultants within our team.
